Some of the best stories aren’t created, they’re discovered.

Our Beginnings

On August 16th 1960, Colonel Joseph Kittenger jumped from his Excelsior III balloon on the edge of space. During his descent, he reached an astonishing 614mph in freefall, a journey captured in The Long, Lonely Leap. Inspired by the spirit of his endeavour, we set out to find the man.

It started with a number. Calling every evening, until finally, Joseph Kittinger's wife Sherri picks up. We pretend we have a shoot in Florida, get a meeting, then borrow the money for cameras, flights and kit and fly out to meet the man who leapt from the edge of space.

in 2006, Lonelyleap was born - our own bold leap into the unknown.
