BP North Sea

Live and work in Shetland

  • Created to lead a recruitment campaign for the North Sea region
  • Captures the essence of work and life in Shetland
  • Documentary approach

Shetland plays a crucial role in the supply of fuel to the UK, but BP has difficulty in recruiting people to live and work there. Addressing the problem head on, Lonelyleap created three films to capture the breadth of experiences that Shetland has to offer and the life of employees that call the island home. The films are the centre-piece of the recruitment campaign, with imagery captured being used across events, print and digital media.

Investigative research fuelled our documentary approach to this project with pre-production entailing location research, advance interviews with employees and extensive exploration into the history of the island. Leveraging the narratives that this discovery stage uncovered, we focused on revealing employees’ own stories to show the real character of BP Sullom Voe.

At the centre of BP’s investment in Shetland is its North Sea Leadership team led by Peter Miller. We wanted to demonstrate the very real commitment and passion that Peter and his team is dedicating to Sullom Voe, through regular site visits, meetings, planning and strategy. Making tangible the investment in the site, this film highlights the excitement and the energy that will drive BP Shetland’s future.
